Weekend is up and new recap of events.
So just a brief recap, I joined Women in Film LA last week and really enjoyed the networking breakfastthat we had in Beverly Hills. The speaker was Danny Sussman, Manger at Brillstein Entertainment Partners. He had some very interesting stories to tell of his experience in the business. I probably should have asked two things, but I did got a little shy, since I am a new member, that really should be no excuse though.
- I should have asked about how to contact film directors, through an agent or manager
- Any tips on how to raise money for a project.
I guess he is big time and right now I’m small time, but any help helps. I was most impressed with one comment that Danny said that I really liked and that was something along the lines of if you are in the presence or other people in your field you are qualified for the job. I guess after not finding any opportunities lately, I have to really fend for myself. Need to get this project going some more and need to find some work to put money in my pocket.
Pretty much this weekend was pretty low key. I stayed at home with Corey and we enjoyed our time together, I worked also on labeling my story boards and I need to get the prototype t-shirt that I going to order from a print on demand company to check their work. I really would love to get the store up as soon as possible and get the word out there about my film project. I also have been tweeting on twitter and have been looking for more followers. I’ve added a lot and have gotten some to follow. But I find myself among a sea of people just like me or a little different trying to sell me something that I probably don’t need. I sometimes see other filmmakers and causes that I would like to help out with, but I’m bust on my personal funds cause I haven’t work pretty much since October.
Funny how the world works. I just seem over qualified and under qualified. Story of my life. So what is my plan for this week? I need to work on my myspace contacts for my film try building that section of my movie. I’m working backwards to develop a fan base first. Because fans are my main target market to support my film. Mainly women with children and young women. How can I tap into this market at a low cost to myself? I really need to get the store done and get some products up. Store order today is a must.
If anyone has any ideas please hit me up. I’m always looking for interesting things to help in my quest of financing my thesis film.
