Next things to do.

CMLeadPic

So I’ve contacted another promo company to talk about coming up with some items for the store.  Like I said earlier I wasn’t to happy with the on demand printing.

I went to the LA fashion district with Costume Designer Edith Raya and we looked at different shirt styles which would be great to sell on the website.

Next, I have to work harder to find a producer for my film.  I need some more help to move this project forward.  And doing it all by myself can be overwhelming.  Thank goodness I had Edith for some recent support.  Some other things that I did this make is make two quick graphics.  One for a Myspace thanks for the add and another for my blogs picture.

So beyond working on the shirts, I need to meet more people to help me on this journey.

On the other hand I saw a recent film contest that I would like to enter to I’m going to start working on a script and see what comes of it.

Got my shirt today!

So the shirt came in I expected some good packaging cause of the expense but I just got my shirt in a bag for the 7 dollar shipping fee.  UPSP would have been cheaper!  Now for the colors.  They did not come out like I wanted them and the wings can barely be seen on parts of the back of the shirt.  Overall I am disappointed with the service.  But I’ll use the shirt @ the gym.  I’m going to have to find a good place where I can make the shirts now.

T-shirt! Just ordered my first shirt from Printfection.com

tshirtfronttshirtback

I just ordered my first shirt from Printfection.com.  Their uploading process was easy and they also had a $2.00 special on white t-shirts to check out the printing method!  Shipping did seem kind of expensive though.  I can wait to get it and see how their print quality is.  I would really like to compare it to other companies to be sure my fans won’t be getting a product that are not up to my standards.  But I guess with any print on demand things can happen.  I’m not really fond of the plain white t shirt, but I’m excited to see how things come out.  I would totally sport this at the gym though!  I would like to create a store on my website soon and on this blog to help raise money for my film.  Does anyone have any thoughts on print on demand with t-shirts or maybe you would like to share an experience with me on my blog?

Have a wonderfairyfull day!

Weekend is up and new recap of events.

So just a brief recap, I joined Women in Film LA last week and really enjoyed the networking breakfastthat we had in Beverly Hills.  The speaker was Danny Sussman, Manger at Brillstein Entertainment Partners.  He had some very interesting stories to tell of his experience in the business.  I probably should have asked two things, but I did got a little shy, since I am a new member, that really should be no excuse though.

  1. I should have asked about how to contact film directors, through an agent or manager
  2. Any tips on how to raise money for a project.

I guess he is big time and right now I’m small time, but any help helps.  I was most impressed with one comment that Danny said that I really liked and that was something along the lines of if you are in the presence or other people in your field you are qualified for the job.  I guess after not finding any opportunities lately, I have to really fend for myself.  Need to get this project going some more and need to find some work to put money in my pocket.

Pretty much this weekend was pretty low key.  I stayed at home with Corey and we enjoyed our time together, I worked also on labeling my story boards and I need to get the prototype t-shirt that I going to order from a print on demand company to check their work.  I really would love to get the store up as soon as possible and get the word out there about my film project.  I also have been tweeting on twitter and have been looking for more followers.  I’ve added a lot and have gotten some to follow.  But I find myself among a sea of people just like me or a little different trying to sell me something that I probably don’t need.  I sometimes see other filmmakers and causes that I would like to help out with, but I’m bust on my personal funds cause I haven’t work pretty much since October.

Funny how the world works.  I just seem over qualified and under qualified.  Story of my life.  So what is my plan for this week?  I need to work on my myspace contacts for my film try building that section of my movie.  I’m working backwards to develop a fan base first.  Because fans are my main target market to support my film.  Mainly women with children and young women.  How can I tap into this market at a low cost to myself?  I really need to get the store done and get some products up.  Store order today is a must.

If anyone has any ideas please hit me up.  I’m always looking for interesting things to help in my quest of financing my thesis film.

Taking the Steps to Network and Expand

So yesterday I took the steps to go out and Join Women in Film LA to meet other women filmmakers in hopes to meet connections and learn more about the business of movie making.  Last night I attended the screenings at Kodak for the 1st Women in Film event that I attended.  There were three interesting stories, one was a documentary which was about the LA River called Heather and Goliath by Magic Pebble Media and another call Spent from AFI, which was about a woman struggling with her live and her situation with living a live beyond her means.  And finally a romantic comedy called All Dressed Up.

My expectations for joining the group will be to discuss my film with others and find ways to help other filmmakers as well.  I’ll keep the blog posted about other events that I will attend in the near future and my experiences.  Possibly I’ll send some tweets as well.

Also on another front, the store is going to be a go!  So I have to get some things together today for my cafe express account.  I personally would like to buy my own mech and sell it, but I have to print on demand.  I have some other ideas as well so things will be coming soon.

I wonder if that’s how things are in the fairy world.  Are fairies out and about networking.  Traveling to different lands to communicate with others.  Or do they just exist and fade in and out of our imaginations.  I’d like to things there a lot like us, only with some of them having magic powers and other without, but they still work together to sustain there way of life.

What Are You Expecting?

More then likely you clicked on a link from Plushandblood.com to get to this site.  I have been looking at my google analytics specs and trying to work out the best functionality for my website and blog.  It seems that most of you click right away to the blog.  What are you expecting from the blog that you are not getting from my site?  Yeah that’s right.  This is a shout out to anyone who finds this blog pretty much.  What are you expecting to get from this blog.  I would love some input or perhaps some input on my website www.capturedmelody.com

As the viewer, what are you looking for here, what do you expect.  This will better help me work on fairy blog, which is a blog to account the events of raising funds for my film and also other things as well.  What can I do to meet or make your expectations that you have?

Best,

Melissa Garza

Weekend Review.

Me and the two dummies!

So another week has rolled by and I just started this blog last week.  So to tell you a little about my weekend, on Saturday, I took CPR and First Aid training from Link2life.org, which is a company that provides training in the Orange County area.  I found out about them when I called  local YMCA as to where they get their training from.  I myself have always been impressed with the YMCA and have worked for them in the past back in Jan 2001-Dec 2002.  Probably the longest job I have ever had for two years.  Wow.  Well I really enjoyed the training from Link2Life and would recommend them if you need to get certified for any reason.  They were professional and the certs only took a day.  All photos were taken after the class.

Compressions Hello are you okay? 2 Breaths Infant CPR

Saving some one’s life is very important and if the need arises being prepared can help you think quickly and know what to do in case of an emergency.  If you are interested in you can also contact the Red Cross to find local classes in your area, or do what I did and contact a YMCA.
Have you ever taken a First Aid or CPR class?  What was your experience?

Midnight Almost and the Fairies are still working.

So it’s a dark evening and fairy’s should be in bed but some are still up pondering, chatting and snuggling.  The fairy lights are growing dim in the Kingdom of  Thelandria, the place where the fairy’s live.  Their King is the one named Mortimer.  King Mortimer has two beautiful daughters, Melina and Rosalyn.

Figuring out where to go to next.  There has been so much stuff to do lately and I have to devise a plan for this blog to aid in the financing of my thesis project.  I will finish my project.  Captured Melody will live on.  For a quick note today, I finished designing the blog, and created a sticker to be made as a promotional item.  Next is T-shirts and on to the store.  I have been debating cafe press or doing something different.
